Selection workshop 2020

February 19, 2020

On 13-14 February, 14 applicants for PhD positions in IMPRS-CPQM attended our annual selection workshop. With the candidates coming from 11 countries, we once again had a very international group of excellent young scientists visiting the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids. In addition to the candidates, a large number of Principal Investigators and other scientists from the three institutions involved in IMPRS-CPQM participated in the event. On the first day, the focus was on presentations by all candidates on their research background, resulting in a very diverse and interesting set of talks. Later in the day, some of our PhD students first offered tours of their labs at the institute and then took the candidates out for a dinner in the city of Dresden. On the second day, the candidates had an opportunity to meet and discuss with their potential supervisors and other members of our program. While the program was very busy for everyone involved, we are sure that everyone had a good time and enjoyed the workshop.

With candidates coming to Dresden from all over the world, we obviously have to give them a tour of the beautiful historic area of the city.

After a very exciting day, our visitors certainly have deserved a nice dinner.
