Comprehensive Course on Topological Systems
Based on the high demand last semester, we again offer a comprehensive course on topological systems which is specifically targeted at PhD students and other junior researchers. Lectures will be given by several PIs of IMPRS-CPQM working in the field of topological materials, including Claudia Felser, the director of the Department for Solid-State Chemistry, and Max Planck Research Group leader Johannes Gooth.
The researchers giving the individual lectures all work at the fore-front of this exciting topic and are contribute to the world-leading activities at MPI-CPfS in their respective research area. The course will start on 19 October and will be offered based on the following schedule:
19 October | General introduction to topological systems |
26 October | Crystal structure and Topological Materials |
02 November | Crystal synthesis |
09 November | no lecture |
16 November | DFT calculation for topological materials |
23 November | Anomalous Hall effect, Nernst effect and other transport phenomena |
30 November | Transport properties |
07 December | Thermal transport |
14 December | Band structure calculations - tight binding |
21 December | Magnetic topological materials |
11 January | Table-top experiments for high energy physics |
18 January | Applications of topological materials |
Details about the individual lectures will be announced separately.
