Thanks for a great selection workshop

February 19, 2019

Last week, we hosted 16 candidates for our annual selection workshop here at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids. The schedule of the workshop was rather busy with talks by all candidates and a series of meetings between prospective students and their potential supervisors. Nonetheless, everyone seemed to enjoy the exciting atmosphere with so many bright young students visiting us from all over the world. Of course, our visiting candidates did not only have to work hard, but also got plenty opportunities to learn more about the research institutions participating in IMPRS-CPQM and got a tour of the city of Dresden. Here are a few impressions from the workshop:

PIs and students of IMPRS-CPQM were interested in the excellent talks by our visiting candidates.

Our PhD students show the candidates their labs and tell them about their daily work.

The lab tour takes the candidates also to the big hall for low-temperature experiments.

After a long and busy day, it can be quite relaxing for the candidates to watch others work.

If you come such a beautiful city as Dresden from all over the world, you certainly have to see the historic downtown area.

It is a nice tradition in our selection workshops that some of our PhD students take the visiting candidates out for dinner at a restaurant.
