Comprehensive Course on Topology and Materials
Course
- Start: Apr 14, 2023
- End: Jul 7, 2023
- Speaker: see schedule
- Location: SR1+2 and online
Over the next several weeks, Claudia Felser and researchers from her department and the institute will offer a comprehensive course on Topology and Materials. The course is mostly targeted at PhD students and postdocs, but everyone interested in topological phenomena is welcome to attend the lectures. All lectures are digitally recorded and made available online to participants as a video stream throughout the whole semester.
Several scientists will give lectures on
their respective research area, so that the course will offer a broad introduction into
the field of topological materials and at the same time provide a great
overview over the research activities at our institute in this field. The researchers giving the individual lectures all work at the forefront
of this exciting topic and are contribute to the world-leading activities at
MPI-CPfS in their respective research area.
The course will start on 14 April 2023. Lectures take place on Fridays from 13:00 - 15:00, and will
be offered based on the following schedule:
- 14 April General introduction to topological systems (Claudia Felser)
- 21 April – Designing of topological materials and their crystal growth (Chandra Shekhar)
- 28 April – Crystal Structure and Band Structure (Claudia Felser)
- 05 May – Magnetic Topological Materials (Claudia Felser)
- 12 May – Topological superconductivity (Uri Vool)
- 19 May – no lecture – “Brückentag” after Public Holiday)
- 26 May – Transport properties topological materials (Chandra Shekhar)
- 02 June – Catalysis and Topology (Claudia Felser and Xia Wang)
- 09 June – Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (Mengyu Yao)
- 16 June – Thermoelectric properties of topological materials (Yu Pan)
- 23 June – Light-Matter Interactions (Fabian Menges)
- 30 June – Topological Quantum Chemistry (Maia Vergniory)
- 07 July – Chirality, Spin, and Topology (Kate Arpino)
Details about the individual lectures will be announced here.
