Developing your research brand
The workshop offers participants support in planning their academic careers with a view to acquiring funding and taking their career profiles into account, as the success of an academic career also depends on whether they succeed in developing their own distinctive research profile. The workshop is primarily targeted at PhD students and postdocs, and aims to provide career development advice from an external and very experienced person.
Workshop description
Particularly in transitional situations in their academic careers, academics often need to reflect on their own position and skills and weigh up different career and funding options. This applies in particular to the transition between qualification phases or to the completion of qualification with the attainment of eligibility for an academic leadership position. Knowledge of research and career support programs as well as one's own strengths and interests are important prerequisites for making informed decisions regarding the next development steps. In addition, potential employers and funding bodies are increasingly asking applicants to provide clear descriptions of their career and research profile in order to be able to check the fit with the institution or program, and the coaching offered on the second day of the event aims to provide participants with an outside perspective to help them think about the further development of their academic career and advise them on a third-party funding strategy.

1) Individual assessment & prospection: analysis of status quo & goals. This module focuses on participants' self-reflection with regard to their current status and their short, medium and long-term career goals.

2) Basics of the German and European academic system & further development of academic careers: typology of research funding. This module provides an overview of the basics and developments within the science system and specific insights into selected funding programs.

3) My current research profile: Individual Analysis. In this module, the specific research topics of the participants and the 'common thread' underlying their academic career to date.

4) My future research profile: Intended perception, incl. outline of an individual strategy concept, qualified feedback. In this module, future content-related interests and funding opportunities for the further development of the participants' academic biographies.

5) On the 2nd day of the event: Individual consolidation in short individual coaching sessions
